About Us
Surviving in Scrubs is a UK based campaign dedicated to raising awareness of sexism, sexual harassment, and sexual assault within the healthcare workforce. The campaign was founded in 2022 by two survivors of sexual violence NHS doctors Becky Cox and Chelcie Jewitt. Through our platform, we share anonymous survivor stories to highlight the scale and impact of these issues, while advocating for cultural and systemic change across healthcare organisations. By amplifying voices that have often been silenced, we raise the survivor experience and are dedicated to creating a healthcare workplace where everyone feels safe at work.
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and reliable volunteer to join us as a research volunteer supporting our campaign by gathering, analysing, and summarising information to inform our work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop research ideas relevant to the campaign’s focus
- Perform research such as freedom of information requests and surveys to identify and understand issues affecting survivors of sexual violence in healthcare
- Gather data, reports, and insights from evidence based sources
- Summarise findings into clear, accessible formats for the team and for public engagement
- Support the development of briefings, reports, or background materials
- Assist in identifying trends, gaps, or opportunities to inform campaign strategy
- Ensure all information used is accurate, up-to-date, and appropriately referenced
What We’re Looking For
Applications are welcome from anyone working in healthcare clinical or non-clinical whether you are studying, training or working. Whether you are a nurse, porter, physiotherapist, secretary, doctor etc. We would like to establish a broad volunteer team that reflects the many different roles of people working or studying in healthcare.
- Strong research and analytical skills evidenced by past research projects and training
- Ability to interpret and summarise complex information clearly
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Experience of working in the research in sexual and gender based violence
- Strong interest in the campaign’s aims and subject area
- DBS registered

Support & Training
There will be an in person on boarding day at the start of the role with other new volunteers to get to meet the team and receive training on the campaign and your role.
Expenses
Travel expenses for Surviving in Scrubs events and other events where we have requested your attendance as part of your role as a volunteer will be reimbursed.
